I do understand what you are saying, but after a long career working with computers of all shapes and sizes for almost 50 years, to be honest I’m not very interested in tinkering at that level - especially when somebody suggests I should be using software written by Apple in an environment where Apple doesn’t support it, and which may or may not be legal in my country (I haven’t spent any time doing the research to find whether it is or isn’t), and which can only be installed via open-source projects which (I would guess) are a fairly minority interest among people who are interested in tinkering at that level. The existence of Hackintosh is to cope with the inflated prices for Apple computers. Hackintosh does not need you to buy a new Mac however, it installs macOS on your current PC. Incidentally I do get sound from other programs (including a scoring program).

I?ve tried doing a system restore prior to 29Apr however there was a windows corral update I downloaded last night when checking for updates and it won?t allow me to restore earlier than 30 Apr. I?ve tried running audio troubleshooter and it detects nothing is wrong. Tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting laptop.
I have removed the high definition audio drivers and then check for hardware changes and it immediately puts them back under system devices with the same error code. Check the option with Delete the driver software for this device and hit the uninstall button. Right-click on it and select on Uninstall device from the drop-down menu. Under this, locate the audio driver Realtek High Definition Audio. However I can find the drivers under apps and features. Expand Sound, video and game controllers from the list in Device Manager. The download goes through install wizard and restarts my laptop but they don?t appear under device manager. I have tried downloading from MSI Realtek drivers and it won?t take them.
